Stellantis has recently announced its plan to introduce 8 STLA Large BEV models, powered by their innovative Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) native platform. This advanced platform is designed to drive a wide array of vehicles in the D and E segments.

The STLA Large platform boasts impressive capabilities, including a remarkable 800 km (500-mile) range, high charging efficiency (4.5 kWh per minute), and lightning-fast acceleration (0-100 km/h in the 2-second range). This is specifically engineered for larger vehicles and is a significant part of the multinational automotive manufacturing corporation’s push into the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.

This highly flexible platform is adaptable to both 400-volt and 800-volt BEV architectures, making it one of the most versatile BEV-native platforms in the industry. It will serve as the foundation for eight vehicle launches across five Stellantis brands, with Dodge and Jeep leading the way, followed by Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati.

Stellantis’ move towards electric vehicles is reflective of a broader industry shift as automakers worldwide pivot towards more sustainable transportation options. The planned models based on the ‘STLA Large’ platform will join the STLA Small, STLA Medium, and STLA Frame platforms in the lineup, demonstrating Stellantis’ commitment to providing a diverse range of electric vehicles.

“Our goals for our STLA platforms are ambitious but this is what our customers need from us today,” said Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO. “Creating a family of vehicles from a well-engineered set of components that is flexible enough to cover multiple vehicle types and propulsions, overperforming any of our current products, will address each of our iconic brands’ customers. The flexibility and agility of this platform is its hallmark and will be a driving force for our success in the shift to electrification in North America.”

The eight new models are anticipated to be launched progressively from 2024 to 2026, marking a significant milestone in Stellantis’ strategic roadmap. Designed with unparalleled flexibility, this platform can accommodate a variety of vehicle sizes, making it a versatile solution for future electric models.

While the company has not yet disclosed specific details about the individual models, the announcement has generated considerable excitement in the industry and among consumers. By expanding its electric vehicle offerings, Stellantis aims to meet the growing consumer demand for electric vehicles and contribute to global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
