Stellantis has announced plans to launch an all-new electric Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV in the second half of 2025. This move is part of a broader strategy to transition Alfa Romeo to an all-electric lineup by 2027, signaling a significant shift towards sustainable mobility within the conglomerate.

Alfa Romeo’s Electrification Journey

Following the launch of the Stelvio, Stellantis intends to introduce a new Giulia sport sedan in 2026, further expanding Alfa Romeo’s electric vehicle offerings. The journey towards electrification began in earnest in 2022 with the debut of the Tonale compact SUV, marking Alfa Romeo’s first step into the EV market. A sport compact model named Milano is also on the horizon, showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and electric powertrains.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of Alfa Romeo, has lauded the Giulia and Stelvio as “authentic Italian jewels,” essential to establishing Alfa Romeo as a premium global brand within Stellantis.

Both models will embody Italian design principles and be manufactured at the Cassino plant, located between Rome and Naples. They will leverage Stellantis’ new ‘STLA’ platform, designed specifically for large vehicles, offering both EV and hybrid variants.

“Giulia and Stelvio will be two authentic Italian jewels, exported all over the world, affirming Alfa Romeo as the global premium brand of Stellantis,” the Alfa Romeo CEO said.

Innovative Technology and Continued Production

The forthcoming Stelvio will be the first vehicle among Stellantis’ European brands to utilize the ‘STLA Large’ platform. Additionally, it will feature the ‘STLA Brain’ electronic and software architecture, incorporating the STLA SmartCockpit platform to enhance the digital interaction between the vehicle and its driver.

Despite the focus on electrification, Alfa Romeo will continue to produce the current internal combustion engine versions of the Stelvio and Giulia until the new models are launched. In Europe, Alfa Romeo’s largest market, sales exceeded 50,000 cars last year, marking a 52% increase from 2022, largely driven by the success of the Tonale model, which introduced a new plug-in hybrid variant in 2023.

A Sustainable Future with Italian Flair

The introduction of the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV shows Stellantis’ dedication to combining Italian craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. This strategy aims to strengthen the brand’s global appeal by offering a portfolio that is both innovative and sustainable.

With these launches, Stellantis emphasizes its commitment to an electrified future, aligning with worldwide trends towards environmental responsibility and electrification.
