A Tesla driver has brought attention to a significant issue that he experiences with his car during winter. Although the car’s central heater blows air, it only blows cold air. This cold air is accompanied by a warning that the climate control system requires service.

Even more remarkably, this malfunctioning Tesla is one of the most premium Teslas on the market: the Model S Plaid.

The video, which was posted on TikTok in the winter of 2022, has recently been reshared by media outlets. The video was shared to the TikTok account tesla.flex, which is operated by Brandon Kokes.

Kokes is one of the most prominent Tesla influencers today. He has over 3 million followers on TikTok.

Kokes’s seat heaters and steering wheel heater still function. This offers some relief from the cold. Nevertheless, the defective central heater makes Tesla winter driving a major pain.

Kokes attributes the heating problem to either a faulty heat pump or a software issue. A Tesla software update that took place shortly before the video’s filming failed to fix the issue, requiring Kokes to visit a Tesla service center.

As mentioned before, the Model S Plaid is one of the most luxurious electric cars on the market. The 2023 Model S Plaid has a base price of $108,490 in the US.

This is over twice as expensive as the Model Y, Tesla’s best-selling car. The 2023 Model Y starts from $47,740 in the US. In the video, Kokes mentions that the heating problem is “unacceptable” given the Model S Plaid’s high price.

The video was the third instalment of a TikTok series in which Kokes highlighted things that he disliked about his luxury Tesla Model S Plaid. In another video, Kokes mentioned that the vehicle has excessively wide cupholders. As a result, Kokes needed to buy an add-on simply to prevent his beverages from spilling.
